David Savage Oak Table for Boardroom, Dining Room or Meeting Room
A very large 5 plank solid oak table to seat up to 14. Mounted on two triangular three post frames connected by an oak ribbed centre spine, the planks are held together by stainless steel bolts embedded in the plank edges. Each bolt bed is closed with a removable bogwood butterfly. The table ends are rounded in D form The table edge lip moulding is cut from the plank edges, giving a finesse feel to this beautiful interpretation of traditional refectory style tables.
This wonderful table was commissioned for a council meeting chamber in Devon. Designed to impress the observer with how its dimensions command the spatial environment. Its simplicity of design takes its reference from the past centuries of plank table evolution. This table emanates the atmosphere of debate and council, togetherness and family.
David Savage was renowned for his design and craftsmanship. His emphasis on the emanation of Soul in each crafted piece of furniture elevated him to the pinnacle of craftsmanship. His school at Rowden Atelier in Bideford carries on his ethos.
The table was dismantled for storage, one frame tenon was damaged in dismantling but in no way detracts from the table.
