A heavy 19th-century Large Victorian Pitch Pine 6 Panel Vertical Gothic Door, manufactured in Pitch Pine and of large dimensions. Originally from a Victorian seminary, the door was used internally for the dormitory rooms.
The timber is in very good condition. These doors being over 150 years old have acquired are a few dings and chips. The surface varnishes require refinishing.
Each door comprises 3 long panels over 3 short panels with all internal edges of stiles and rails chamfered in the Victorian Vertical Gothic style. Each panel is flat and fitted into rabbets in both stiles and rails.
Due to the age, it is deemed prudent to double Dowell each of the outer stile and rail joints.
Original Victorian mortise latches, without handles, and cast iron hinges are available, each needs refurbishment. A reproduction key is required.
