Portmeirion artist Susan Ellis-Williams came up with the idea for Botanic Garden in 1972 when she was looking through rare books and discovered a volume of beautiful, meticulously drawn floral illustrations. The launch of the Botanic Garden included 28 different flowers and was an immediate success.
