A magnificent bespoke solid oak table designed and made by David Savage, at his Atelier in Barnstable, from oak timber sourced in his home county of Devon.
David Savage's fine design is a contemporary interpretation of the traditional Plank Table.This beautiful Refectory style Table would be welcome as a dining table or boardroom table. Originally commissioned for a Council Chamber the design encompasses the ethos of meeting; The meeting of minds in bringing the design into being. The Meeting of minds in the process of deliberating the progress of Community. To that end the heavy Oak dimensions depict the stability, strength and tenor. This table speaks eloquently of establishment, familial or corporate.
This 14 (427cm) foot long table, seats 14 people, suitable for public or private meeting or dining rooms.
The table top comprises 5 x 3 inch thick solid oak planks clamped together with stainless steel bolts sunk into the top surface, each bolt is hidden with Lignum Vitae butterfly shaped inserts.The outer rim is moulded to a stepped bullnose profile, feathered on both the top and bottom edges.
The carriage or underframe comprises two triangular frames on three legs connected by a spine with three spreading ribs.The outer two legs of each frame have an elongated hexagonal cross section, whereas the inner centre leg of each frame has a cross section of an elongated irregular pentagon.
The table will be available dismantled if required.
