Villeroy Boch Kimono Kutani 31cm Buffet Plate is a desirable bone china 31cm Buffet Plate from the Villeroy Boch Chateau Collection, pattern number 4536. The rim comprises a floral band of Chrysanthemums, Lilac Blossoms and Foliage encased by an inner trelliswork and edged with gold.
The Villeroy Boch Kimono Kutani pattern displays the high skills of the silk craft lavished in the art of Kimono decoration developed during the Edo period when designs wavered between opulence and restraint.
The pattern displays the “off Red” colour used during the Edo period to circumvent the Shogunate’s edicts banning the use of red.
