David Savage Oak Table, is a masterpiece in design and craftsmanship. This large 5-plank solid oak table is perfect for boardrooms, dining rooms or meeting rooms and can seat up to 14 people. Mounted on two triangular three-post frames connected by an oak ribbed centre spine, this beautiful interpretation of traditional refectory style tables is sure to impress.
Crafted by renowned designer and craftsman David Savage, this table was designed to emanate the atmosphere of debate and council, togetherness and family. The simplicity of its design takes reference from the past centuries of plank table evolution, while the finesse feel of the table edge lip moulding is cut from the plank edges, giving it a modern touch.
The table planks are held together by stainless steel bolts embedded in the plank edges, with each bolt bed closed with a removable bogwood butterfly. The table ends are rounded in D form, adding a touch of elegance to its design.
This wonderful table was commissioned for a council meeting chamber in Devon, and its dimensions command the spatial environment. Although it was dismantled for storage, one frame tenon was damaged in the process but does not detract from the table’s beauty and functionality.
At Rowden Atelier in Bideford, David Savage’s school continues to carry on his ethos of design and craftsmanship, ensuring that each crafted piece of furniture emanates the soul of its maker.
